Kopūstėliai rocket base
For three decades (1958-1988), in picturesque forests between Ukmergė and Vepriai, there was the Soviet Army rocket base in Kopūstėliai. In 1960, eight of the Soviet army’s most powerful 8K63 missiles were brought here and stored in masked hangars. The nuclear weapon for missiles was stored in a separate area a couple of kilometres away. Thus, nuclear weapons kept in Kopūstėliai threatened capitalist Europe. Currently, the club “Forest Brothers” is in the territory, and it is open to visitors.
